While exiled in England, he wrote, "Essay upon the Civil Wars in France" which mocked the French government. His ridicule of the French government was what really brought Enlightenment ideals to the nation. | ![]() | ![]() Voltaire's "Candide"In 1759, Voltaire published one of his most famous works: "Candide." The story focused on a boy, Candide, as well as his friend who both continuously run into bad luck, yet always get out of it somehow. The story also has the two boys question if men always tried to slaughter one another throughout history, which had some people review philosophy. |
